In this workshop, you will learn methods and techniques to make your artworks look more realistic and three-dimensional. By working on a pre-printed underpainting, you can focus more on mastering oil painting techniques.

Schedule
The workshop will begin with a talk on colour theory. Louis will then demonstrate how to match tonal values, blend colours, and create depth in paintings. In addition to class lessons, individual instruction and critique will be provided.

Organising the palette
The palette is thoughtfully organized with warmer colors on the left and cooler tones on the right. Each color is broken down into three values by adding white to create mid and light tones, allowing for more precise and accurate color mixing

Grisaille underpainting
We’ll be painting directly on a black-and-white underpainting that’s pre-printed onto the canvas, so no need to worry if you’re a beginner—the drawing is already taken care of! We’ll dive into drawing techniques in future courses. Plus, all photo references and canvases will be delivered straight to your door.

How The Live Online Class Works
The class will be held on Zoom, with live progress checks available through WhatsApp or in real time using a Webcam or Phone camera.

Experience
Both beginners and experienced artists are welcome! Understanding is the priority, and no one will be left behind. Each student will receive individual support until they fully grasp the lesson’s principles. Louis will demonstrate each step live for the group and offer one-on-one guidance directly on students’ work when needed.
